Do you do enough exercise?

According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) physical activity is essential for good health, ‘helping to prevent or manage over 20 conditions and diseases’. NICE also state that for general health a total of at least 30 minutes a day (moderate intensity) on five or more days per week ‘reduces the risk of premature death from cardiovascular disease and some cancers, significantly reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and can improve psychological well-being’.

Do you think you do enough to maintain your general health and improve your quality of life?

Sport England’s Active People 9 survey states that nationally only 23.1% the population take part in any sport and active recreation at a moderate intensity for 30minutes or more 3 days a week; this is not enough to maintain general health according to NICE. In Bolton this is slightly higher at 25%. When we look at the male and female breakdown it shows 34.9% are male and 15.6% are female.
